Nannie Haughey's Chutney
1. Peel and cut onions and apples into small cubes
2. Put all ingredients in a large pot and bring slowly to the boil
3. Boil for 1 hour stirring regurarly to avoid sticking to pot
4. Wash/sterilise jars before filling with mixture
5. When filled allow to cool before putting the lids on
Just before Christmas we would all help with peeling and chopping the apples and onions, we wore goggles to protect our eyes ... I'm afraid they didn't work and we all laughed and cried at the same time.
When making this it brings back lovely memories.
